Susan
Thompson Underdahl is a 44-year-old North Dakota native who feels like a relative late-comer to the field of writing. Like
most writers, however, Susan has always been an avid reader who counts among her favorites writers Judy Blume, Sandra Dallas,
Shirley Jackson, Steve Kluger, Dave Eggers, and Nancy Turner.
The Other Sister (Flux, March 2007) was
Susan's first published novel, followed recently by Remember This (Flux, 2008). Aside from writing, Susan's primary
working life revolves around her job as a clinical neuropsychologist, a specialist who works in the evaluation and treatment
of individuals suffering from brain injury or dementia. She is also a clinical supervisor of graduate students at the University
of North Dakota in Grand Forks, and a member of the North Dakota Board of Psychologist Examiners.
At home, Susan
is a happy wife and mother of two sons, one daughter, and three stepdaughters, ages 16, 13, 13, 11, 10, and 8. The family
is rounded out by two dogs and two cats.
